SUFFOLK’S final Minor Counties Championship match of the season, against Hertfordshire at Bury St Edmunds, was abandoned without a ball being bowled today.
Rain fell steadily throughout the morning at the Victory Ground, and after taking an early lunch the two umpires, Paul Baldwin and Ben Debenham, in consultation with Suffolk skipper Justin Bishop and his Hertfordshire counterpart Jamie Hewitt, decided to abandon play for the day at 1.45pm.
Suffolk, who led by 265 runs with seven second-innings wickets standing going into the final day, took 11 points from the match and Hertfordshire 10.
