Heybridge Swifts have reached the first round proper of the FA Cup, following a superb 4-2 win at Haringey Borough this afternoon.

An own goal of Lawrence Yiga, on 14 minutes, handed the Swifts a 1-0 half-time lead, and although the visitors conceded a 57th minute equaliser to Ralstan Gabriel, they responded by scoring three unanswered goals in an eight-minute spell midway through the second period.

Sam Bantick restored the Swifts’ lead in the 65th minute, before Luke Callander netted a quickfire brace via a 69th minute penalty and a 73rd minute effort.

Haringey, unbeaten in Bostik North, pulled a goal back late on from Ruaridh Kay, but it was too little too late for the North London hosts.

A bumper crowd of 401 watched this entertaining fourth qualifying round tie, at Coles Park.

The Swifts fully deserved their win, and so are into Monday’s first round draw, along with such big names as Portsmouth, Charlton and Blackburn, and of course Essex neighbours Colchester United.
