MARK Yeates made a welcome return to action with a sweet brace as Colchester United eased to a big win in this pre-season friendly at Scraley Road.
Nathan Clarke handed Heybridge a surprise early lead with a long-range lob, but the U's were 3-1 up at the break through a Scott Vernon header, a goal from St Albans City triallist Sunday Wasiu and an own goal from Clarke.
The U's changed their whole team for the second-half, and Clive Platt added the fourth before winger Yeates, back in the side after last season's shoulder operation and some more recent bad blisters, struck with two quality goals.
