STOWMARKET Town FC have completed the signing of Andy Taylor from FC Clacton of the Ridgeons Premier League.

Andy is an experienced full-back who was a member of the Cambridge United Youth side in the early 2000’s.

He returned to Clacton for his third spell this season after leaving Tiptree and was given the Vice-Captain’s role for the club. During his time at Clacton he became the club’s second-highest appearance maker, having played in 138 games, five short of retired former skipper Paul Hillier (143).

Those figures are in the club’s guise as FC Clacton, rather than Clacton Town. Taylor, and will join up with another former Seasider, Dan Smith, at Greens Meadow.

Andy went straight into the defeat to Thetford on Tuesday night and is relishing the challenge of the top of the table clash with Cambridge this Saturday.

General Manager John Griffin said; “The team are short on fullbacks at present, with long term injuries taking their toll. Andy is someone who comes highly recommended and when we knew of his house move into the area, he was someone we kept an eye on until the time was right for Steve and I to speak to him about our plans for this season.

“He adds valuable experience to our back line and I know is relishing the challenge. We have a top of the table clash on Saturday at Cambridge Uni Press and although the lads are disappointed with the cruel exit in the cup this week, the 120 minutes under their belt will see them in good sted for the this huge league game.”
