Ipswich Town's U19s badly need a win to kick start their season but they will find it very difficult tomorrow when they travel to Aston Villa, one of the strongest teams in the league, writes David Vincent.

And Ian Smith's choices will be limited again as the reserve season has now got under way.

The entire squad involved against Leicester City on Wednesday came through the academy ranks at Portman Road with most of the lads still eligible for Saturday's U19 game.

Last Saturday Ipswich went down 1-0 to Watford in a bruising encounter while a week before it was a 3-2 reverse at home to Bolton Wanderers.

There is a similarity with the first team in that plenty of chances were created but not finished, in both matches.

Ian Smith said: "Aston Villa won the U19 national play-offs last year and are very strong so we know it is going to be a tough battle.

"We will be taking as strong a side as we can. Hopefully we will find results improving soon. Our performances have been improving week by week.

"We are having to play the numbers game and see how lads react to their involvement with the reserves.

"Sammy Morrow is back with us again and has come back full of confidence after scoring a couple of goals for Northern Ireland last week."

Likely squad

Supple, Synott, Krause, Mitchell, Collins, Hogg, Lordan, Flack, Knights, Craig, Reid, Barron, Morrow, Beveridge, Murray, Atay, Okay and Sobolewski.
