THE U's have bolstered their squad with the addition of big centre-half Neal Trotman on loan from Preston North End.

Trotman goes straight into the U's squad for this weekend's trip to Leicester City. The 22-year-old looks sure to see some first-team action in future weeks, especially as Paul Reid is out injured for the season, and Chris Coyne is to join up with the Australian national squad later this month.

Manchester-born Trotman joined Preston from Oldham for 500,000 on transfer deadline day on January 31, 2008, but has found his opportunities limited at Deepdale.

He is renowned for being strong in the air and quick across the ground.
