IPSWICH Witches star Rohan Tungate has admitted he needs to focus more, after a long first season in England.

Tungate, 22, enjoyed a fine debut year, upping his average with the Foxhall side.

But he admits he lost focus during the last month of the campaign – thinking too much of a return home to Australia.

“I started thinking too much about home and I was getting very tired by the end of the season,” Tungate said from his Kurri Kurri home in New South Wales last night.

“I will learn from my mistakes and I know I need to focus more right up to the end.

“The rain-offs got to me a bit and any poor meetings bothered me too.

“But overall I was pretty pleased with the way I rode for Ipswich and I’m looking forward to coming back next year – a bit wiser about it all.”

Tungate has just started work as a boiler maker back home – it’s a trade he has qualifications in – and he is enjoying the warm weather.

One of the first riders to be pencilled in to Ipswich promoter Chris Louis’ team for 2013, Tungate feels the Witches have an exciting look.

“Having Ben Barker in the team is great,” Tungate said.

“He’s one of, if not the, best rider in the Premier League. And I’ve heard he really looks out for his team-mates.

“It’s a shame we had to lose Dak (North) and Taylor (Poole), especially as Dak was going so well at the end.

“But I know that’s how it works and I’m looking forward to coming back.”
