COLCHESTER United took the derby honours tonight with a 1-0 win over Ipswich Town at Layer Road.A goal by Karl Duguid in the ninth minute was enough to seal the win for the U's, although Town will feel hard done by after a Jon Macken equaliser was controversially ruled out for a foul on the goalkeeper.

A win would have taken Town to second spot in the league, but they now remain level with Colchester on 14 points.
