FIXTURES against Cambridge rugby teams tend to be hard work whatever the level, and Sudbury U13s contest against a massive Cambridge outfit was no different.

From the kick-off Sudbury played up the hill and rucked the ball well at the early breakdowns. At this point the contest looked to be even. But then Cambridge's backs let loose and carved holes in a Sudbury defence that was shocked to a standstill.

John Taylor and Alex Flack stood out as strong tacklers for Sudbury but the relentless running and handling from a powerful and mature Cambridge side took its toll. Once the line was broken it was one-way traffic and all against Sudbury. During the first-half Sudbury forwards made some progress in the shape of Connor Adams, Oscar Broaler, and Ben Pinnegar, but the Sudbury pack was not close enough to offer support.

Half-time score Sudbury 0 Cambridge 31.

The second half continued in the same vein with Cambridge dominating the loose play. The Sudbury team is to be commended for their attitude, maintaining their discipline, and sticking to the task until the gritty end.

Final score Sudbury 0 Cambridge 56.
