AFC Sudbury grabbed victory in Ryman North on Saturday, while Bury Town played out an entertaining 3-3 at Cray Wanderers.

Division One North AFC Sudbury 2 Haringey Borough 0

A goal either side of half-time was enough for AFC Sudbury to take the points from a match they dominated.

Indifferent finishing kept the scores level until three minutes before half-time when the hosts won a free kick on the edge of the penalty box.

Craig Parker took the kick and his shot was parried by Ashley Harris in the Haringey goal, but the rebound fell to Liam Wales who rifled the ball into the net.

Four minutes into the second period Sudbury doubled their lead when Wayne Blackman’s cross from the left found Luke Callander who fired into the net from close-range.

Sudbury continued to have the upper hand and came close to adding a third 10 minutes from time when Ryan Henshaw’s header rebounded off a post to Parker who twice had shots blocked away on the Haringey goal-line.

Cray Wanderers 3 Bury Town 3

Bury came within minutes of taking all three points at league leaders’ Hayes Lane ground.

Less than 10 minutes in Cray found themselves down to 10 men when Ben Payne was shown a straight red for bringing down Ollie Hughes who was through on goal.

Cray opened the scoring though with a cross into the box headed home by Onome Sodje on 15 minutes.

Bury found their game and on 43 minutes Justin Miller worked the ball in from the right and fired home through a crowded box for the equaliser. Bury started the second half on the attack and managed to grab an early goal on 48 minutes.

Bradley Barber swung in a cross for Ollie Canfer to head in what was his first goal for the Blues.

Bury went 3-1 up on 62 minutes when Sam Reed hit a powerful shot from outside the box.

Cray never gave up and kept attacking and got their reward on 63 minutes.

A double strike at O’Sullivan saw him save the first but he could not recover quick enough to save the second as Michael Frieter made it 3-2.

With time running out for Cray they were awarded a penalty on 86 minutes for a trip in the box by James Paterson and Grant Basey stepped up to blast home the spot kick.
