FELIXSTOWE and Walton United manager Steve Potts says his team is capable of ending Needham Market's winning run when the teams meet at Dellwood Avenue tonight.

The visitors have won their opening 12 Ridgeons League Premier Division matches and will be looking to equal AFC Sudbury's opening sequence of 13 consecutive victories set in 2004/05.

“Needham have enjoyed a fantastic start, which shows how formidable they are,” said Potts.

“They will be full of confidence, but we are more than capable of giving a good account of ourselves.”

Felixstowe have signed midfielder Neil Calver from AFC Sudbury and he made his debut in the home win over Newmarket on Saturday.

“We aim to bring in similar calibre players to strengthen our squad,” added Potts, who has coach Mark Scopes as his right-hand man now that former assistant Steve Buckle has taken over at Ipswich Wanderers.

Needham manager Danny Laws has added new signing Paul Wright to his squad, the Highbury-based defender previously having been associated with Hayes.

“We have Bury Town's record Ridgeons League run of 18 opening straight wins - set in the 1960s - in our sights, but we will be taking each game as it comes,” said Laws.

Needham, whose only defeat this season has been against Grantham in the FA Cup, include leading scorer Craig Parker, who has netted 13 times from midfield.
