GERAINT Williams has been confirmed as the new Colchester United manager.
U's chairman Peter Heard last night that Williams has been given the job on a permanent basis after his second stint as caretaker-manager.
Heard said: “Geraint is an excellent coach who, after a long and distinguished career as a player, served a long apprenticeship under Steve Whitton and then Phil Parkinson.”
The former Ipswich Town and Derby County midfielder, who played more than 650 games, will be a popular choice for U's fans and will be officially presented to supporters before United's friendly against Leyton Orient at Layer Road tomorrow with a 3pm kick off.
“We finished the second round of interviews late on Sunday night. We then had to come to an agreement.”
