Witches pay tribute to Berry with victory

Ipswich Witches 44 Rye House Rockets 34

IPSWICH Witches didn’t let John Berry down on a night of nostalgia at Foxhall Stadium. The John Berry Tribute Challenge ended in victory for the Witches against Rye House on a night when faces old and new came together to remember the former Foxhall promoter, who died in Australia earlier this month. Interviews throughout with former riders, an old 13-heat formula and champion of the evening second half kept the good-sized crowd well entertained on an enjoyable evening, with some good racing. In the end the Witches came out on top – and as Berry would have acknowledged – that’s all that counted.

Ipswich scorers: Poole 6, North 10, Lanham 7, Tresarrieu 6, Tungate, Nielsen 3, Risager 5.
