Nothing less than three points will do for the Ipswich ‘Sackers’ Witches as they hope to go four points clear at the top of the Premier League table tonight.

Sheffield Tigers stand in the way of the Witches creating that gap at the top, but director of speedway Chris Louis wants to see no complacency.

“It’s three points we want, simple as that,” he said.

“After tonight, I’ve targeted five points from our final three league meetings and that I feel could be enough to finish top.”

Those final three meetings however are Edinburgh home and away, and Somerset away, so Louis knows the Witches cannot afford any slip-ups tonight.

But they will have to ride without Ritchie Hawkins, who is resting his knee after twisting it last week – Rye House’s Kasper Lykke takes Hawkins’ place tonight and at Edinburgh tomorrow. Josh Grajczonek again deputises for the injured Ben Barker.

Sheffield lost No.1 Simon Stead early in the season through injury and have not really made any impact since.

Rye House star Olly Allen will deputise, but at a track they have not normally done well at over the years, Sheffield know they will have a tough meeting on their hands.

With the Witches flying high, the management have extended their ‘Kids for Free’ voucher for one last time this summer.

An forward-thinking idea and one that has proved popular.
