WORLINGTON walloped Walsham-le-Willows by eight wickets in a run fest in Division One of the Hunts County Bats League.

Oli Jackson smashed 19 fours and six sixes in his innings of 162 as Walsham posted a competitive 263 for six in their 40 overs.

Jackson batted almost all the way through the innings and received good support from Ashley Forbes, who scored 45, on a wicket which was a batsman’s paradise.

What happened next was barely believable as Worlington’s batsmen went to town. Openers Craig Estlea and John Sands put on 105 in just six overs.

After Estlea was dismissed for 60 off 25 balls with seven fours and four sixes, the carnage continued as Bury Town striker Sands blitzed his way to 81 off only 34 deliveries. Sands struck six fours and seven sixes before he fell with the total on 151.

But both Richard Ford and Tom Osborn ensured that the good work did not go to waste as Worlington romped to their target in 23 overs, Ford ending undefeated on 37 and Osborn on 78 not out that contained six fours and as many sixes.

Sudbury were also eight-wicket winners, successfully chasing down Woolpit’s 197 for nine, while Bury St Edmunds beat Battisford by 80 runs in Sunday’s other Division One fixtures.

Shane Leech’s 106 and Paul Pallant’s five for 68 proved decisive as Lakenheath hung on to beat Brockley by just seven runs in Division Two. There was also a century for Chris Farrant, who closed on 131 not out as Mellis won another high-scoring encounter at Stowmarket by 33 runs.

Adam Kizis also reached three figures, scoring 107 as Bury St Edmunds won by three wickets in Division Four at home to Long Melford, for whom veteran John Stuck scored an undefeated 98. In Division Five 15-year-old Sam Renshaw made 99 not out for Hadleigh Academy as they saw off Mellis by 119 runs.

A Mike Peck ton saw Sudbourne Hall crush Easton by nine wickets in Section A of the MSC Suffolk Alliance League. Peck plundered 115 not out and Tom Jenkin an unbeaten 41 as they overhauled Easton’s 177 for nine with three overs to spare.

St Margarets skipper Paul Allen’s 74 provided the cornerstone of his side’s 26-run win at BT Martlesham & Waldringfield, while Southwold won a thriller at home to Wortham by two runs. They successfully defended their total of 167 as David Coleman’s undefeated 52 and No.9 Dan Phillpot’s 68 ultimately proved in vain.

Darren Wash returned figures of 8.1-2-27-6 as Rumburgh were rumbled for 93 and tumbled to a 45-run loss at home to Melton St Audry’s in Section B.

Needham Market secured an exciting one-wicket win at Stradbroke, Lee Cooper leading the victory charge with 70 not out, while Ben Glading’s undefeated 115 saw Nacton record a nine-wicket win against Rosary Cavaliers.
