IPSWICH Town could be on course for their worst final league position for nearly half a century if their current bad spell continues.
Town currently sit in 16th place in the Championship after their fourth straight defeat, at Watford yesterday, and the last time they ended the season in that position was in 1958-59 when the club was in the old Second Division.
Should they climb a place and finish 15th, it will be the first time they have finished that low since the 1965-66 campaign when the club picked up 39 points, also in the old Second Division.
In the modern era you have to go back to the 1989-90 season - the first under John Lyall's management - for the most recent poor showing when the Blues finished ninth in Division Two.
