LAST week we discussed attendance figures in the Ridgeons League in some depth and it caught my attention on Saturday the disastrously low number of spectators who witnessed Great Yarmouth’s game at the weekend.
The Bloaters entertained Brantham Athletic in the Premier Division and attracted a crowd of just 37.
Now Yarmouth has a population of 58,032 and is one of the biggest towns in East Anglia yet it was completely outshone by the likes of Hadleigh (272), Woodbridge (159) and Debenham (71).
There was a much bigger attendance (495) on Monday when Carrow Road staged the quarter- final of the Norfolk Senior Cup with the Canaries entertaining Norwich United.
What a big night for United and for Norfolk football with City winning 1-0 thanks to a late goal, and a shame that Ipswich Town decided to pull out of the Suffolk Premier Cup this season.
