GORDON Strachan has parted company with Ipswich Town’s Championship rivals Middlesbrough - just two months into the new season.

It has been reported that the former Celtic boss has left the Teesiders following their 2-1 defeat at home to Leeds United on Saturday - their sixth loss of the season.

Middlesbrough, who were defeated by Ipswich 3-1 at home on the opening day of the season, were widely tipped to be promotion contenders this year after Strachan brought in a host of new players including Kris Boyd from Rangers.

But they have won just three times this season and currently sit two points above the relegation places. In all, Strachan won just 13 games of his 46 in charge after taking over from Gareth Southgate last October.

The club are yet to confirm who will take charge of Tuesday’s league match at Nottingham Forest.
