Oh Happy Day, the Sister Act Live Choir is coming to Ipswich with a special cinema screening of the hit Whoopi Goldberg movie.
Thirty-five gospel singers and a full band will accompany the onscreen nuns with performances of songs from the soundtrack like My God and I Will Follow Him.
Presented by Amacoast Cinema, the show has enjoyed two sold out runs in London in 2016 and earlier this year.
“We’re delighted to be touring this powerful and uplifting live cinema experience,” said founder Dele Aro.
“We were delighted to see the shows connect such a large diverse group of people together, to share a unique experience and create new memories around a much-loved film.”
The Uplifted Voices choir, providing the vocals, have appeared on BBC Gospel Proms and provided backing choirs for the live shows of ITV’s The Voice, Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor.
There will also be a special guest performance from Britain’s Got Talent Semi-finalist’s Gospel Singers Incognito.
The 1992 musical comedy is the story of Vegas lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier who is forced to hide in a convent disguised as a nun after witnessing her mob boyfriend murder a snitch in his crew.
The Sister Act Live Choir begins its national Tour at the Ipswich Corn Exchange on September 23.
