An award-winning film-maker from Suffolk is inviting people from the region to feature in his latest project, which is due to begin filming next month.
Sam Travis, who grew up in Claydon, will be producing the film, Eat Your Principles, in and around Ipswich, taking inspiration from the region’s “beautiful yet desolate landscapes”.
The film, which is a not-for-profit enterprise, made using donations, has been written by Ana Garcia Rico, who will also direct. It tells the story of a misanthropic ageing man battling with his fear of dying alone, who starts to change his outlook on life after being followed by a persistent duck.
A fundraising page featuring a short cinematic trailer for the film was launched recently, and has already raised nearly £2,000.
“Everyone getting in contact from the Ipswich area is getting very excited,” Mr Travis said.
“And we’re still looking to cast a whole bunch of extras from the area of all ages.
“As well as those appearing in front of the camera, we’re also looking for anyone with a passion for filmmaking that wants to get involved on set in general.”
Mr Travis will be making the film with a group of fellow graduates from the University of Arts London.
His previous student production won nine awards and praise from renowned director Danny Boyle.
Mr Travis says he hopes the film can follow in the success of his latest project, which was “screened at some of the most prestigious BAFTA and Oscar qualifying festivals in the world”.
