Foodies are spoilt for choice this summer with a jam-packed calendar of events
1. Beer and Oyster Festival
The Anchor pub, Walberswick
Saturday August 4 to Sunday August 5

Enjoy over 20 real ales, live music, oysters and a barbecue as the annual festival returns to the pub. The festival starts at 11am on both days and runs until late. There will also be oyster shucking demonstrations and live music as August is kicked off with a touch of class in the village. The pub boasts three large garden terraces, dogs are welcome and there is also free entry.
2. Beer and Gin Festival
The White Horse Inn, Haverhill

The White Horse Inn in Withersfield is hosting its first ever gin and beer festival. There will be a marquee, barbecue and live music for all the family to enjoy. The event will run from 12pm each day.
3. Bury St Edmunds Food and Drink Festival

Foodies will love the two day Bury St Edmunds Food and Drink Festival held on August Bank Holiday weekend, With a line-up of cooking demonstrations from top celebrity chefs, including Ready Steady Cook star James Tanner, the chance to taste and purchase food and drink from over 100 stalls and a popular farmer’s market, this is a foodie’s heaven. There’s also lots to keep the children occupied with the ever popular man-made beach, fairground rides, street entertainment, and a mini farm. The event runs from 10am to 5pm each day.
4. Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival

A celebration of Suffolk’s thriving food and drink scene with over 90 food and drink producers from Suffolk, all gathered to sell their produce including raw milk, organic vegetables, sourdough bread, award winning beer and spirits from sponsors Adnams, cyder from Aspall and delicious street food. The Festival is truly family friendly with free tickets for under 15s and free children’s activities including hands on cooking workshops. Not only is there an amazing array of local produce but the festival also has two cookery demonstration stages hosting visiting and local chefs. The programme also includes Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith in conversation with chef and food writer Thomasina Miers - tickets are £32 and include entry to the festival and a signed copy of her new book.
5. The Woodbridge Shuck
Saturday September 22 to Sunday September 23

The Woodbridge Shuck is a annual fish and shellfish festival with the main arena at Whisstocks Quayside where freshly cooked seafood meals will be available. There will also be a variety of stalls, music and children’s entertainment. Throughout the town, participating restaurants and pubs will also be serving dishes using locally caught and grown fish and shellfish, including River Deben oysters and mussels. Friday and Saturday nights will see the very popular Shuck Shack pop-up restaurant (pre-book only).
6. Newmarket Food and Drink Festival
Saturday September 15 to Sunday September 16

A relatively new addition to the Suffolk food and drink festival line-up with demonstrations from celebrity chefs including Jamie
Mountford who was a finalist on the 2016 series of Masterchef: The Professionals and the Sous Chef at Bedford Lodge Hotel and Spa. There will also be tastings, live music and exciting exhibitors including Gentleman Jim’s cocktails, Le Stickman who sell chargrilled baguettes and Jack’s Gelato.
7. The Great Framlingham Sausage Festival

Although not strictly taking place in the summer, the The Great Framlingham Sausage Festival is not to be missed. The event is a celebration of the Great British Sausage, or to be more specific, the great sausages that are made right here in East Anglia using local ingredients.
It all takes place on Sunday October 14 from 10am in Framlingham, Suffolk. Sausage makers take over the whole town of Framlingham and will be sizzling sausages for you to try. Not only do you get to taste lots of sausages, there is also entertainment for all the family, free workshops and plenty of stalls to browse and activities to keep you busy all day. Don’t forget to visit the Castle on the Hill that inspired Ed Sheeran’s hit song whilst you’re there.
