Rock Barracks military base near Woodbridge has confirmed “filming activities” are happening on site, but was unable to divulge details.

According to an anonymous tip-off, however, the filming is for Jurassic World 2, the follow-up to 2015’s Hollywood smash hit starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, and the fifth instalment in the franchise.

Publicists and production managers for the film were unable to confirm the rumours. However, filming in other UK locations including London and Slough has been widely reported.

Jeff Goldblum, who starred in the original Jurassic Park in 1993, told Entertainment Weekly this week that he was “off to London” to take part in the latest instalment. He said his character was “a saucy, sassy man of some integrity and deep thinking”.

Very few details have been released about the plot for the sequel, although its director JA Bayona told Digital Spy last year that the sequel will feel “darker and scarier”.

Jurassic World broke box office records during its opening weekend. Starring roles from the last outing are to be revived with Pratt returning as velociraptor expert Owen Grady and Howard as park manager Claire Dearing.

The news comes just weeks after filming for BBC drama The Child In Time, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, was held in Shingle Street on the Suffolk coast.

The county is developing its reputation as a filming location, with hopes to capitalise on a multibillion pound industry.

Last year, Film Fixer outlined its vision to bring hundreds of filming days to Suffolk.

The county’s proximity to London and wide variety of locations including airfields, beaches, and woodland is said to make it an attractive prospect.

Earlier this month, this newspaper reported on a project to create film studios at the former Bentwaters air base.

Proposals have been drawn up to use 12 acres of the former USAF site to create a complex of buildings which would provide everything needed by companies making films, TV, adverts, pop videos and many other productions.
