Framlingham/USA: Ed Sheeran celebrates billboard chart success in America

Suffolk superstar Ed Sheeran is celebrating after further chart success – this time across the Atlantic.
Ed’s album ‘X’ (pronounced ‘multiply’), has gone straight to number one in the US billboard charts, following his debut UK album chart success.
The album is currently sitting in the top spot in both the US and the UK, the first album to do so since punk-pop band Paramore’s album of the same title, which spent one week at number one in both countries on April 20 last year.
The singer-songwriter, who studied at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, is the first British person to achieve the feat since singer-songwriter Adele’s album ‘21’ topped both charts in 2011.
Ed, in his success, joins music legends including the Beatles, Michael Jackson and Led Zeppelin.

Upon hearing of his success, he tweeted: “Had my first #1 album in America this week. Thanks for everyone supporting it, that’s mental x”
He also announced tour dates in Italy, Switzerland and France, all of which go on sale today, and his first book, ‘A Visual Journey’, written alongside Phillip Butah, will be out on October 9.
