The choirs and orchestras of Ipswich School raised the rafters of Snape Maltings Concert Hall at their annual Spring Concert.
Pupils from both the prep and senior schools took part, performing everything from a specially-composed fanfare and choral performance of Vivaldi’s Gloria to a tribute to Queen and the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean.
Other highlights included 1960s standards Blue Moon and God Only Knows, Beethoven’s Symphony No 5 and Karl Jenkins’ Adiemus – familiar as the music for the 1994 Delta Airlines advert.
Nicholas Weaver, headmaster at Ipswich School, said: “The whole evening was a great success and what we experienced was just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the hard work and hours of practice put in by both students and staff. I felt it was a vintage year for our ensembles and it was wonderful to see their passion for music.”
Ensembles showcased included the prep chamber choir, symphony orchestra, intermediate orchestra, big band, show choir and barbershop group.
This year’s festival of music lineup was also unveiled. Details here.
