Kirbye Voices, the Bury St Edmunds-based chamber choir, is to perform a concert of summer music at Great Barton Village Hall at the weekend.
The programme includes music by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Simon and Garfunkel, Gerald Finzi and Claude Debussy, together with arrangements of several familiar folk-songs.
No tickets are required but there will be retiring collections.
Kirbye Voices is a choir of around 30 singers drawn from the Bury St Edmunds area and which specialises in unaccompanied choral music of all periods, both sacred and secular.
They are named after the madrigal composer George Kirbye, who lived and worked in the town and who most notably contributed to Morley’s Triumphs of Oriana in 1601. He is buried in St Mary’s Church, in Bury, where he was churchwarden.
In recent years the choir has sung services in several cathedrals and also in St George’s Chapel, Windsor.
