The final last ever live show by synthpop duo Soft Cell who came to prominence in the early 1980s is set to be screened at the Abbeygate Cinema, in Bury St Edmunds, on Sunday.

Consisting of vocalist Marc Almond and instrumentalist David Ball the duo are principally known for their 1981 hit version of “Tainted Love” and 1981 debut album titled “Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret”.

It is their first live performance in 14 years and celebrates their 40th anniversary as a group and will be screened at 7.30pm.

Fans will be able to watch the legendary pioneers of pop live as they walk on stage at the O2 in London, which is now completely sold out.

There are 13 cameras covering the show and is being directed by Tim Sidwell.

The duo had a total of 10 Top 40 hits including “Tainted Love”, “Torch”, “Say Hello, Wave Goodbye”, “What!” and “Bedsitter” and also had four Top 20 albums between 1981 and 1984.

In 1984, the duo split but reformed in 2001 to tour and record new material, releasing their fifth studio album “Cruelty Without Beauty” in 2002 and they have sold 10 million records worldwide.
