FAVOURITE Matt Cardle has again won the support of X Factor viewers.

He sailed through last night’s vote, securing himself a place in the next round of the hotly contested talent show.

Starlet Cher Lloyd found herself in the bottom two but narrowly avoided being sent home after judge Louis Walsh voted to keep her in ahead of Paige Richardson.

Last year’s runner-up Olly Murs, of Witham, sang his latest single ahead of the announcement and revealed he will be going on tour in spring next year, much to the delight of fans in Essex and Suffolk.

However, he failed to show any loyalty to his fellow Essex boy, Matt.

Despite revealing last week that he had been supporting Matt, who lives in Little Maplestead, near Halstead, Olly tipped boyband One Direction to win the 2010 show.

Matt is now busy preparing for next week’s live show. He has so far managed to avoid the sing-off and is still the bookies’ favourite.
