A Suffolk nursery has "surpassed all expectations" after raising over £1,000 in just one week.

The Granary Nursery in Framlingham raised over £1,000 for Children in Need, after hosting a week of activities and fundraisers.

The exact total raised was £1,091, with all money going to the children's charity.

Allie Green from the Granary Nursery said: "Obviously times are particularly tough for everybody at the moment, so this has really surpassed all expectations.

"We are really thrilled because we are only just a small setting, we only have 40 places, and it was just a great total.

"Parents and families have given so generously and we thank them for achieving that total.

"We are blessed that we have such a great relationship with our families and it pays off in times like this because they want to support and help.

"It just goes to show people can really dig deep.

"It is amazing. We are really blown away."

Throughout the week, the nursery took part in a wide range of activities, including the children doing a sponsored walk around the woodland, the staff baking cakes and selling them every day throughout the week and also a guess how many spots were on Pudsey the Bear cake.

Children were also able to wear pyjamas for a day, donating a small amount to be able to do so.

The nursery raises money for Children in Need every year, but Mrs Green has said that it is the biggest total they have ever received.

She said: "Children in Need is poignant, it means something to families because it is about children.

"I think it really hits home about just how fortunate you are when you have healthy children, that aren't in the position that others might be in.

This comes off the back of an Ofsted 'Outstanding' rating for the nursery, which they gained last month.
