A mum has spoken of her excitement as she celebrated the opening of her colourful new restaurant in Southwold.

Emma Barber said she was "overwhelmed" when she opened Loaded for the first time on Thursday.

The restaurant, in Victoria Street, near the resort's town centre, serves a range of dishes, including loaded fries, waffles, brisket, blue cheese, barbecue pulled pork and chilli cheese fries.

"It is just really overwhelming," Mrs Barber, who has previously managed a catering business, said of the opening.

"We had some friends and family in last night to do a tasting session and I burst into tears about three times.

"It is just really emotional but also really exciting and nerve-wracking. I am hoping we will hit the ground running because it is the school holidays soon, so hopefully that will mean we will have plenty of people in the town."

Mrs Barber, who has lived in and around Southwold her whole life, said she received a good reaction from local people and on social media.

She added: "It has been really good.

"We put the word out for friends and family and a few local people to come to the taster session, and I think we had about 80 people through the door.

"Our social media has gone mad. I've even had two phone calls from people in London asking if I can deliver to their postcode.

"We don't even do delivery – we do click and collect. It is good to see the word is getting out that far."

The restaurant has a colourful interior with pelnty of neon lights and is aiming to be something a bit more relaxed for Southwold, Mrs Barber added.

She previously said that she would be giving a 10% loyalty card to local people for food – and rather than just handing them out to anyone, she will be giving them out to her more frequent visitors.
