Students have described a surprise visit from Suffolk superstar Ed Sheeran as "one of the most amazing experiences" after he walked into their rehearsal.

The singer is touring North America at the moment and dropped into Middleton High School in Tampa, Florida, while the school band was practicing his latest hit, ‘Eyes Closed’. 

The students were astonished to see the pop star coming to their school to play "a tiny concert" for them.

One of the students, who did not hide his excitement and even shed a tear seeing his idol, said: "Ed Sheeran showed up during practise, and it’s one of the most amazing experiences that we ever had in Middleton." 

Another student added: "Ed Sheeran was singing with me, and I was like – Oh my gosh!" 

The band also gave a show for their guest, which was commented on by Ed Sheeran: "That was amazing. What a vibe, great energy, and amazing musicians.

"They’re doing a wonderful thing with school music, and that’s my favourite thing that I’ve done this week." 

The students received free Sheeran guitars and tickets to his show.
