After months of anticipation, over 40 multicoloured dogs which have been hiding from the public finally had their faces revealed at the Suffolk Show.

The 42 dog sculptures have all been individually created by artists from all around the county, as part of Suffolk Libraries’ PAWS-itivity campaign.

The initiative aims to spread some ‘pawsitivity’, colour and fun across Suffolk this summer, whilst helping to raise money for the vital work Suffolk Libraries carries out in the community.

After months of excitement and sneak reveals, the 42 dogs were revealed in a grand unveiling at the Suffolk Show.

Over Wednesday and Thursday, many visitors came by to marvel at the intricate dog designs, as well as various other sculptures and dog-inspired artwork.

They were also busy voting on their favourite dog design.

Artists also took the opportunity to visit their dogs, including Sharon Teague, whose dog Atticus is inspired on her experiences as an extra in the Magpie Murders television series.

Bruce Leeke is the chief executive of Suffolk Libraries.

He said: “We’re delighted to have finally unveiled our PAWS-itivity dogs at the Suffolk Show. They look fantastic and hundreds of people have been marvelling at the beautiful designs. The dogs will be taking up residence in our libraries over the summer so look out for them as they add a splash of colour across Suffolk!

“We had a packed marquee at the official launch event and are incredibly grateful to all our generous sponsors, the artists and everyone who came along to support what we do.”

Throughout the summer holidays, each of Suffolk’s libraries will be hosting a different sculpture for library users to enjoy. The locations of each dog will be announced on June 21.

The dogs will come together once again in autumn, when they will be auctioned off at Trinity Park by Clarke and Simpson.
