The owners of a new coffee shop in a Suffolk village say they have had a positive start, having been open for a week.

Rossá Coffee and Crepes officially opened their doors in Station Hill, Thurston, last Tuesday, having moved in at the start of July.

Owned by Thurston Butchers, it marks part of an expansion for the popular shop.

Alastair Angus, who has run the butchers' for the last seven years, said: "The opportunity just arose.

"The previous owner was looking to sell up and approached me to say 'is it something you are after?'

"We were kind of actively looking for somewhere, but it wasn't the market we were going for. But it seemed like to good of an opportunity.

"The footfall for it is massive. The size of the village is doubling with new housing developments going up all over the place, so it just seemed like too good of an opportunity to miss out."

During lockdown, Mr Angus and his team experimented with cooking burgers and loaded fries, meaning they already have experience in running their own kitchen.

Although burgers will not be sold in the café at present, they will be serving fresh sandwiches, cakes and milkshakes alongside locally sourced coffee.

"We've started small, but we wanted to make sure all the elements were as good as they can be," Mr Angus added.

"I have got quite a few ideas for the place."

Having been open for one week, Mr Angus says the business has already received positive feedback.

He added: "It has been a really positive start. It's been a learning curve, but in terms of they way the team have handled it they have been superb.

"The customer feedback has been superb, it's been really busy and we have been well supported."

Rossá Coffee Shop is open Tuesday to Saturday.
