Residents of an East Anglian RAF base have been without running water for three days following "a series of infrastructure failures".

RAF Feltwell, a housing base near the Norfolk border for United States Air Force personnel stationed at Lakenheath and Mildenhall bases, lost all running water on Friday evening (October 13).

The lack of running water has affected the entire base, with around a hundred households unable to wash their hands, flush their toilets, shower, or do their laundry.

A resident who lives on the base told the East Anglian Daily Times: "We are being told that there is a problem with the water tower and they do not know where the leak is coming from.

"We had running water for a few hours yesterday morning (Monday, October 16), but now we're back to not having any as they fill up the tank but then it runs out.

"It is really concerning. They have been providing us with water bottles but this doesn't solve the problem of sanitation.

"I need to cook and if I'm dealing with raw meat I need hot water to wash my hands, and we should be able to flush our toilets.

"We have recently moved here, and we are a family of six so the cost of moving somewhere else would just be too much."

A spokesperson from RAF Feltwell said: "Residential water supply did go out on Friday following a series of infrastructure failures.

"Our Civil Engineer Squadron, began providing drinking water as soon as we were made aware of the outage.

"The Civil Engineer and Housing Management teams have been working round-the-clock and have managed to partially restore water supply.

"For residents with low or no water supply today, we will be providing a temporary lodging allowance (to stay at a hotel) and reimbursement for incidentals until water is fully restored to RAF Feltwell.”
