Plans to refurbish a section of platform two at Bury St Edmunds railway station have been given the go-ahead.
Greater Anglia, which maintains the west Suffolk station, had applied to West Suffolk Council seeking permission to carry out repairs and a revamp.
The application focused on the turret building on platform two, with the intention to "improve the structural defects of the complete turret structure".
The plans also outlined proposals to remedy the structural defects of the storeroom on the same platform.
Bury St Edmunds Town Council was in favour of the scheme.
West Suffolk's planners gave the proposal the green light, citing how it would "protect the special character, architectural interest and integrity of the building".
A separate application to create a new cycle storage section at the station was submitted to West Suffolk Council last year.
Bury St Edmunds station is one of the busiest in Suffolk, serving almost 700,000 passengers in 2022/23, according to the Office of Rail and Road.
It is on the Ipswich to Peterborough and Ipswich to Cambridge lines.
