A Suffolk business owner who opened a shop at Beach Street in Felixstowe in December has been "overwhelmed" by the popularity of his new venture.

Jamie Burgis started Wok Wraps as a market stall in Bury St Edmunds in June 2023.

Within six months the business had expanded into a permanent unit in Felixstowe's Beach Street, a bustling hub of food and drink outlets right on the coast.

"It has been really overwhelming," said Mr Burgis.

"We had a steady start on the markets and slowly grew in popularity.

"Once we got our keys for the Beach Street unit it all happened so quickly.

"It is very exciting but it has been crazy since opening - we sold out every day in our first two weeks open."

Opening during the winter months at a seaside town was the chance for Mr Burgis to slowly find his feet as he took on the running of a permanent food outlet full-time, but the reality has been the opposite.

"It has been a really good pace, especially during the winter months.

"Beach Street is a great place to be and the whole experience of my first shop has been amazing.

"The busyness has been so unexpected but it is so exciting."

Customers have been driving from Bury St Edmunds to Felixstowe to support Mr Burgis as he launches this next step for his business.

"The community at Beach Street has been so helpful and welcoming too!"

Wok Wraps has been having a break from the regular Suffolk markets while Mr Burgis has been finding his feet in Felixstowe, but there are plans to return at the end of January.

"It is just me cooking at the moment," said Mr Burgis.

"Once the team has grown a bit more I'd like to keep both the shop and the markets going."

Wok Wraps is open at Beach Street from Thursday to Sunday, 12pm to 9pm.
