A café and bakery has launched a series of late-night dessert events following a successful trial in December.

Sapphire's Café and Bakery in Mildenhall opened in September 2023 and was instantly a hit, with people queuing outside the shop before the doors opened on its first day of trading.

Now, following a late-night opening in December that saw the staff "rushed off their feet" for the duration of the evening, the café has announced plans to do a late-night dessert event once a month, with the first event on Friday, January 26.

"It was really busy, which is why we are keen to do it again," said business owner Yasmin Whybrow.

"People still came to the last event even though it was pouring with rain.

"People must have liked it!"

The café will be serving a range of traditional hot desserts, including sticky toffee pudding and syrup sponges, alongside their normal offering of brownies, pancakes and waffles.

Sapphire's recently started opening on Sundays too, and Ms Whybrow has hinted at special events on Pancake Day, Valentine's Day and Easter.

"It's definitely keeping me busy," laughed Ms Whybrow.

"But it is really nice that it is paying off."

Sapphire's will be open from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, January 26.
