Work is progressing on a new Sainsbury's store on the outskirts of a west Suffolk town.

Planning permission for the new Sainsbury's Local branch at Lark Grange, near the Moreton Hall estate in Bury St Edmunds, was granted in July.

Construction work on the site is currently ongoing, with the foundations and structure of the building being developed.

Original plans stated the shop would be from 7am to 11am every day, but a licencing application submitted to West Suffolk Council suggested it could open 24 hours a day.

Proposals for the centre also include a hot food takeaway restaurant.

Nineteen car park spaces and a servicing yard are also included in the plans.

A Sainsbury's supermarket is currently located in Bedingfeld Way on the Moreton Hall estate.

Lark Grange will compromise of more than 350 homes once completed.

It is unclear when the new store will open its doors, but a spokesman for LSP Developments, which is behind the development, said it is expected to open by early summer.

Sainsbury's has been approached for comment.
