The owner of a Suffolk pub has cemented the bar's reputation as the place to go for a burger, as he places in the finals for a national award.

The George in Cavendish reopened in October 2023 and is run by the team behind The Vine in Great Bardfield, just over the Suffolk border in Essex.

The group is well-known locally for its extensive burger menu, which draws patrons to the pub from miles around.

"These aren't 'just' burgers - we wanted to focus on one style of food and do it really well," promised part-owner Spencer Martin in an interview last year.

The popularity of their 'divine' burgers has been further proven by the National Burger Awards for 2024, in which one of the owners, Spencer Hewitt, is a finalist.

The 'Freakshake' challenge is run by Horlicks and is one of the most highly-regarded awards for chefs and fryers championing burgers in the UK.

The winners are yet to be announced.
