A woman is being treated in hospital after a fire in an east Suffolk town.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called at about 10.10am on Thursday to reports of a fire in New Street in Woodbridge.

A spokesman for the fire service said that there was also a significant amount of smoke from the blaze that could be seen in the road.

On arrival, the crew discovered that there had been a chip pan fire in a kitchen, which had been extinguished.
