The front entrance to a Suffolk hotel has been closed off after a car crashed into it last night.

Eyewitnesses have reported seeing the car crash into the foyer of the Premier Inn in Etna Road, Bury St Edmunds, shortly after 8pm yesterday.

The vehicle remained inside for a while surrounded by smashed glass.

Emergency services were called to the scene and a clean-up operation was launched.

This morning, a pile of debris remains at the front of the premises.

A spokeswoman for Premier Inn said: "We can confirm that an accident occurred at our Bury St Edmunds hotel last night.

"We are supporting our team and those affected by this accident, as well as providing any assistance needed by the emergency services during their investigation."
