Ipswich Town midfielder Lee Evans is keen to stake his claim in tonight's Carabao Cup clash with Premier League club Wolves at Portman Road.
Kieran McKenna is set to ring the changes following his side's flying to start to the Championship season, with midfield duo Evans and Jack Taylor both auditioning to be the suspended Sam Morsy's replacement at Huddersfield on Saturday.
"We've won seven out of eight in the league, so I can't really go bashing on the manager's door asking to play!" laughed the Welshman.
"I've just got to keep training well, keep working on the things I need to, and my time will come eventually.
"We've got a big squad and there are plenty of players all wanting to stake a claim. Cup games provide an opportunity to do that and people will be looking to take their chance with both hands. We have to show the manager we are all ready when he needs us."

Ipswich are second in the Championship table, while Wolves are 16th in the top-flight after taking just four points from their opening six.
"It's going to be a big test," said Evans, who started the previous Carabao Cup wins against Bristol Rovers and Reading.
"It's a game we're probably not favourites going into, but it's a challenge the whole squad is looking forward to.
"We competed well against Burnley in the FA Cup last season and this one is going to be another step up in quality facing a Premier League team. We'll do our work beforehand and leave no stone unturned. We're aware of how they can hurt teams, and will need to be on our guard defensively, but we will also try and do what we do in every game and look to try and take the game to them and exploit weaknesses.
"We want to win and progress in the competition."
The 29-year-old, who made 67 appearances for Wolves between 2013 and 2018, added: "I've got fond memories of my time there.
"They bought me from Newport, when they were in non-league, started me in their 23s and I graduated into the first team under Kenny Jackett. Wolves kickstarted my career so I will always have them to thank for that."
