Ipswich Town duo Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead came off the bench to help Wales beat Finland 4-1 in the semi-finals of their EURO 2024 play-off.
Moore was surprisingly left out of the starting lineup, although he was introduced on the hour-mark, while Broadhead was brought on in stoppage time when the win was already wrapped up.
A third-minute strike from David Brooks was followed up by a fine free-kick from Neco Williams, but the visitors got themselves back in the game just before half-time as former Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki found the back of the net.
The Dragons responded well, however. Brennan Johnson scored from point-blank range just two minutes into the second half, and Daniel James worked the ball around goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky before firing into an empty net to make it 4-1 with 86 minutes on the clock.
Moore now has 40 caps to his name, while Broadhead is up to 10. Town team-mate Wes Burns missed out on the match through injury, having withdrawn from the Wales squad on Tuesday night.
The result sets up a play-off final against Poland, who beat 10-man Estonia 5-1 in Warsaw. That match will take place in the Welsh capital on Tuesday, March 26th.
The winner will earn a place in the group stages of the tournament in Germany, joining Group D with the Netherlands, Austria and France.
Elsehwere, Cieran Slicker completed his international duty, starting for Scotland under-21's as they beat Kazakhstan 4-1 in Paisley. The win sees Scott Gemill's side remain second in their EURO U21 qualifying group ahead of Belgium, who beat Malta 3-1.
